Youth Camp and Summer break

June 19, 2007

Two weeks ago we went to camp with one of our supporting churches.  We had a wonderful time playing games and having all sort of competitions.  There were also morning and evening services.  It was a great opportunity for the parents to get the kids out of the house to relax after school and the kids a time to use that extra energy.  There were about ten campers that accepted Christ as Saviour (including one of mine. Praise the Lord!) and one young man who surrenderd to preach.  Teens these days need more positive influences in their live amidst the world they live in.  Send them to a good camp and see what God does in their hearts.

Spamming for money

June 19, 2007

Have you ever received solicitation to help someone get money out of their country? Did someone tell you they were married to a rich man who recently died and they wanted the money to go to a christian cause?  They are SCAMMERS!!!!  Check out the website “bittenus.com”.  Lots of neat stuff on e-mail scammers.  I have recently been e-mailing a person from the Ivory Coast who first claimed to be the wife of a deceased millionaire.  I wrote back and said it was a shame for them to try scamming people. I guess it is too hard to just ask for help.  After that note they wrote back and said his name was Elvis. I have been sending portions of scripture and the plan of salvation to these scammers.

The next time you receive spam try sending them the plan of salvation.  (Just a thought)

Communion

May 5, 2007

I recently a questionnaire regarding what to serve at communion.  The questions were as follows.

Q. Do you serve fermented juice for communion?

A.  No

Q. If the answer above is “no” would you use something other than grape juice?

A. To stay within the boundaries of scripture, “fruit of the vine”, I guess you could use strawberry or tomato if you wanted.  If you were to choose tomato you could have people in you congregation slapping their foreheads and saying, “I could’ve had a V-8”.

Does it really matter?  Is that a deciding factor as to whether you will support a missionay?  Why would you use anything other than grape juice?
